On February this year we received an email from  Destination Weddings & Honeymoons magazine stating that they are now accepting submissions for membership in their  A-List Wedding planners 2012 and StellaAndMoscha were under consideration!

Their editorial team chooses planners to include in their A-List, and membership is free.

The basic requirements were: Planners must have planned a minimum of 20 destination weddings and have been in business for at least two years, with the majority of their clients being destination weddings.

As of Wednesday  16th of May (Which is my birthday)  they informed us that we were officially selected to join the A-list!  Tears of Joy and laughter followed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Special thanks goes to Erika Hueneke for always answering on the spot and coordinating this project with so much success!

In addition we needed to answer some critical questions and some of them are outlined below.

How many destination weddings have you planned altogether?

500 destination weddings (weddings, elopements, renewal of vows)
How long have you been in the business?

16 years

What is your specialty?

Our twenty years of experience has made us experts in planning Greek Island weddings. That experience has also honed our talent for blending the customs, personalities and culture of each individual.  Our forte is helping couples create a meaningful celebration to honor the past and their future.

What do you love about planning destination weddings?

The Greek islands are all about unique landscapes, great weather and being able to make the most of their unique open spaces.  This gives you endless possibilities to create a one of a kind event tailored to every couple’s character

What are your three best tips for couples on how to find the right planner?

Looking for a wedding planner is no easy job! Yes I totally agree.  You may spend a month or more sending 30 or 40 emails to different companies, receiving replies and then ending up not remembering which one really got your attention.

My suggestion to you is:

Follow your instinct and go with the one that you feel confident with and the one you feel you can trust.

A phone or skype conversation will definitely give you a much clearer picture of the person you will be spending so much time with.

Ask for references from past clients. You may communicate with these couples and discuss on their overall experience.

Ask for online client reviews by an independent source. (e.g. Wedding Wire, Yelp etc.)

Number of years the company has been in business.  Experience really counts!

What are three important questions couples should ask potential planners?

What are your packages and pricing?

What does a wedding planner do? How involved are you in the wedding planning process?

Specialization on large or small scale events?

What is the best way for a couple to convey their wedding vision to their planner and communicate with him or her from afar?

Every wedding is totally unique and should be all about the couple’s character and style! In order to be able to communicate this to your planner top tips are:

Create a mood board collecting all your favorite styles and colours. Think of all things you have in your everyday life as a couple, from your favorite lamp next to your bed, to your favorite books to favorite quotes.

Share a Pinterest board with your planner where you can share comments and ideas. It is so much fun and every time you add a new comment or picture to this board each one gets an email alert so you both keep track of changes.

Skype is the best way forward for arranging a video call and sharing your online files at the same time.  There are also great applications on mobile phones or tables (like what’s up or viber) that allow you to communicate fast and efficiently with anyone from afar.

Warm Island Greetings
