Greetings from the Greek Islands.
Spring has arrived and is here to stay whilst summer is just around the corner. So why not dream of these endless summer days by looking at photos of destination weddings?
More and more couples decide to have an intimate destination wedding. The reasons are so many: escape in exotic locations, celebrate with those nearest & dearest to the couple, avoid stereotypical wedding style back home, and so many more. And what destination could provide a more amazing backdrop for such a unique celebration, other than Santorini & Kirini Suites?
The wedding of Laurence and Melissa is a truly beautiful celebration with unabashed elegance and simplicity. We are also thrilled to see this wedding featured on Belle & Chic blog.
Thank you to George Pahountis for the breathtaking photos.
Greetings to all!
Looking for a reason to jet off to a far away land, a wonderful little paradise for saying your I Do’s? Then look no further than the wedding below in the Greek Island of Santorini!
There is just ‘something’ super romantic about Santorini weddings. The landscape, the dramatic volcanic cliffs. the insanely gorgeous sunset all work magically together for a truly romantic destination I Do. The lovely girls at Love4Weddings just featured some of the very best moments of one such wedding: Olivia & Justin’s Sweet & Romantic Spring Wedding in Santorini. We are thrilled to see these beautiful images by Thanos Asfis tell the story of this destination wedding weekend.
The bride, who is of Greek descent, wanted her romantic spring wedding to take place on the island that is considered one of the most beautiful islands in the world. Before ‘tying the knot’, the happy couple hosted a wonderful sailing cruise and rehearsal dinner for family & friends to express their appreciation for travelling from so far away.
The ceremony was held at the Cathedral Church in Fira followed by a reception on a gorgeous Estate in Imerovigli. Read all the wonderful details on the Love4Weddings blog and get inspired! It’s sophisticated and fun, intimate and elegant and all kinds of pretty.
Hello to our wonderful couples!
Today I am sharing with you a wonderful day in photos that are not wedding photos. You will surely agree with me they are truly inspiring and remind us of the real meaning of marriage and bringing families together.
Destination Weddings are so much fun. Actually they are more than fun; they are full of excitement, cheerfulness and joy. The focus is mostly on the wedding day itself but Destination Weddings have other events planned around the wedding day. Either to thank guests for making the effort to travel miles away from home, introduce family and friends who have never met before or simply because the couple want to spoil their guests with parties, candlelit dinners or sailing to explore the place they are getting married.
We want to share with you the wonderful day we planned for Olivia and Justin’s family and friends as it was one of the best guest experiences we’ve had the pleasure of putting together. It’s usually referred to as ‘The Rehearsal Dinner’ but this was more than just a dinner. It was a day of pure fun! What was so lovely about planning this ‘Welcoming Wedding Guests event’ was how specific the couple were about the experience they wanted their guests to have. For example… their love for Greek Food and Greek Music.
So we chose to start with a morning cruise around the volcanic isles of Santorini which also included Greek Meze and Syrtaki on board.
In the evening guests were surprised with a candlelit dinner in a 400-year old canava; cave like building where the locals made wine. And to top it all up live music with Tsabouna: the traditional Greek Bagpipe which certainly set the tone for the rest of the evening….actually the wedding itself as guests would not let the musicians stop playing.
This was, for both families, their way of expressing who they are through the whole day’s celebrations. And it was a fabulous day! Thank you to Thanos Asfis for the exceptional images.
Greetings from the Greek Islands!
I know most of you are dreaming of beautiful weather and sunny days in the Greek Islands. And those planning their destination wedding I Do are certainly looking for ideas.
Here’s how to get inspired: fall head over heels for this gorgeous wedding. Fall madly in love with the chic and sophisticated style, the simple yet elegant flowers and the stunning bride and groom who really made the effort to follow the photographer around ‘off the beaten track’ Santorini.

Greetings to all wonderful brides (and grooms)!
As this year is coming to an end, we’re finding ourselves looking ahead to what’s in store for 2014. And we know our brides are on the look out for that unique idea to style their dream Greek Island Wedding. We always keep our eyes open for the next big thing, and sifting through gorgeous bridal shows and photos of real weddings has given us some great insight on what’s to come. The trends for 2014 weddings are playful yet elegant, spectacular (somewhat dramatic) and fun. Here’s what happening this year!
1 ) Wedding Décor
We spotted a tendency to move away from the ‘everything matching’ style in favor of a much more eclectic decor scheme. Mixing elements of contrasting styles creates a look that’s fresh and truly unique. You might be pairing vintage style lounge furniture with sleek modern chairs, for example, or use linens with bold patterns: from chevrons and quatrefoils to florals and geometric shapes. Patterns are a great way to bring color and dimension into the reception decor scheme. Think about the spectacular contrast of these patterns against the ‘white washed’ venues whilst planning your wedding in Greece.

2) Wedding Dresses
Dramatic veils, 1920’s-inspired & and open-backed gowns and lush Lace; the season is about statement makers. Wedding dresses that sit just above the knee are also having a moment under the bridal fashion spotlight. With the use of lace, draped tulle and striking necklines, they still have that much sought after ‘wow’ factor; just perfect for destination weddings!

3) What about the Groom?
The classic bow tie is slowly making a comeback for grooms as a popular choice over the tie. There are some great modern bow ties out there that ‘adventurous grooms’ will sure find inspiring.
4) Pantone Color of the Year
Perfect for your “something blue,” Pantone has selected it’s top color for 2014 — Dazzling Blue! We think it resembles the blue in our logo and are loving it. From your wedding shoes to linens, bridesmaids dresses & wedding cakes, there is no shortage of ways to incorporate this dazzling shade into your wedding palette!

And remember: Don’t incorporate a trend because it’s hot. Think outside the box and incorporate a trend that is a unique reflection of you and your tastes. Sooo looking forward to our upcoming weddings!
Warm Island Greetings,
Greetings to all our wonderful Brides-To-be (ok and Grooms!). This time of year most of you are snowed under with work and winter holiday plans and are not into full wedding-planning mode. So a bit of inspiration and ‘postcard pretty’ wedding photos will make the start of your week so much ‘sunnier’!
It is hard to describe this destination wedding in just a few words. Why? Because it had everything! Modern details mix and mingle with a truly spiritual ceremony conducted by the couple’s Pastor who flew in from Germany. Original 1920’s & 1940’s Ford & Mercedes cars meet colorful Tuk Tuk’s all the way from Thailand, white mules & donkeys for the happy couple, and last but not least: a concert stage built for Michael Sembello who flew in from the US to perform live one of the bride’s favorite songs: She is a Maniac!
The details and fun we had with Jana in planning this celebration of love is beyond words. The couple just love everything about Santorini Island! They have been visiting Katikies The Hotel in Oia for years (and know all staff names by heart), have discovered the finest restaurants & tavernas-love everything about Greek Cuisine- and are passionate about the simplicity and elegance of the Greek Islands;
These are just some of the reasons that made them choose to start their Husband & Wife Journey in a unique and fun way on the island. It’s the kind of day where every last person is having the time of their life. It will only take one peek at the images below from Andrea & Marcus and XOAndrea to see why this wedding just had to grace our blog pages. Enjoy!

Warm Island Greetings,
Greetings from the (still) summery and sun-kissed Greek Islands. I know that you beautiful brides-to-be are currently thinking about the wedding theme “and the perfect dress to go with it”! Barefoot beach elopement versus a Castle Wedding or maybe a Grecian Inspired fete?
A wedding wouldn’t be complete without a theme. Whether you are both very traditional or far from it, there is a theme out there that is perfect for you! Here are some popular wedding themes that never fade! Here is the valuable contribution from Simply Bridal to help you out:
If you’ve ever wanted to be stranded in Paradise, this is a wedding theme for you! This theme has minimal decorations and is almost fuss-free. Celebrate your wedding intimately with just a few close friends and have your ceremony right on the beach! Then kick off the festivities with a driftwood fire right on the sand.

Many little girls have dreamed of getting married in a castle! The Venetian Castle on Naxos makes it reality. You’ll feel like you’ve time travelled back to the Age of Chivalry in this lovely eight hundred year house in a picturesque Medieval town.

Fit for the Gods
If you or your fiance love Greek mythology and Homer, pick a historically significant island like Rhodes. Rhodes once contained the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world! Today, it also contains several luxury hotels so you can feel like Zeus and Hera. Also, consider incorporating Greek stories into the fabric of your wedding such as table names for the reception meal.

Something new, something old, something borrowed, and something blue! Everyone has heard of this classic rhyme. While most brides incorporate a bit of blue into their wardrobe, you can also include the deep blue of the ocean or the light blue of the sky! Santorini is especially famous for its gorgeous waters and air.

Choosing your dress must certainly reflect your wedding theme. This week I came across some wonderful wedding dresses I wanted to share with you from Simply Bridal – perfect match for the Greek Islands.

Warm island greetings,
Hope all of you are enjoying summer time making plans to set off to a breathtaking paradise with lots of sunshine, crystal blue waters and beautiful sunsets. If you are still unsure and would like some inspiration, look no further than one of our beautiful Catholic Weddings hosted in Mykonos (check one of our previous posts about Mykonos also here) -one of our favorite Greek island!
Mykonos is mostly known as being the cosmopolitan and glamorous amongst the Greek Islands. Others refer to it as the ultimate party destination; which it is! The fact is though that Mykonos hosts over 400 teeny-tiny fabulous white washed chapels and sets the perfect background for a wedding; be it an intimate affair or a grand wedding celebration.
When Silvia and Bryan contacted us over a year ago their first choice was to marry on the island of Santorini. They had decided to whisk away their beloved family and valued friends on a ‘fun under the sun’ cruise around the Mediterranean. So this was the perfect opportunity for them to tie the knot in the Greek Islands. As the Catholic Church in Santorini was not able to host the ceremony we immediately suggested Mykonos. And we set out with Silvia on our wonderful planning journey!!! The ceremony took place at the Virgin of St. Rosary Church, right in the heart of Mykonos Town – Chora and next to the most photographed windmills of the Aegean Sea.
Silvia wanted her family and friends to toast over an authentic Greek lunch before boarding back on their cruise boat. So the Belvedere Hotel was the obvious choice; a mouthwatering celebratory meal in the most serene environment. Purple and blue flowers were chosen to complement the Aegean blue and miniature Bride & Groom iced cake pops replaced the traditional wedding cake.
It was a fabulous day captured perfectly by George Pahountis. Congratulations Silvia and Bryan!
Warm Island Greetings,
Want some Saturday morning wedding Inspiration? Here is a Destination wedding in Greece featured by Destination I Do Blog! Check out the beach styled shoot full of gorgeousness!!!
“The process of bringing two people together in marriage is often times lost in the chaos of planning a wedding. What flowers to get, how many groomsmen/bridesmaids, what kind of décor? The list of things to do can go on for miles. Some couples want to strip away all of this excess and focus on the thing that’s most important, the two of them. This was the case for Scott and Michelle, who initially wanted to elope, but in the end had 4 guests attend their wedding in Greece on the gorgeous island of Santorini. For Scott and Michelle, less really was more.”
When Anna Roussos (the photographer) informed us that the couple opted for a pre-wedding photo shooting, the idea was born. Anna suggested to opt for a beach styled shoot so we started improvising throwing ideas about what would best suit the black sandy beach in Santorini.
The result really paid off as Michele and Scott were really stunned by it all!

Special thanks to Courtney Cox for putting this altogether and hosting us at Destination I Do! Much love and appreciation!
